QUOTES FROM THE UFC® 189 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR – BOSTON & CALGARY

Las Vegas – Undisputed UFC® featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor are embarking on a world press tour spanning 10 cities in five countries over the course of 12 days to promote their upcoming world title bout at UFC® 189: ALDO vs. McGREGOR on Saturday, July 11 at MGM Grand Garden Arena to highlight International Fight Week. The event also features Robbie Lawler defending his UFC welterweight championship for the first time against No. 2 Rory MacDonald.

JOSE ALDO:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Press Conference – Boston – March 25

“He has never faced a top fighter before. I see the fear in his eyes. He will suffer when he gets into the Octagon® with me. I’m not like the retired fighters and (newcomers) he is used to.”

“I don’t understand what he says and even if I did, it wouldn’t be a problem. He’s silly, but if he touches me during this World Tour he is screwed.”

“The only belt he is getting is the fake one. If he wants to buy one, he is welcome to do that because that is the only one he will ever see in this division.”

“He should go to Nova União and train with us. I know he wants to follow my steps.”

CONOR McGREGOR:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Press Conference – Boston – March 25

“Aldo should apologize to the Brazilian community in the United States instead of thanking them for the support.”

“There is a psychological war taking place, but I already won. I used his native language and said he is going to die and he didn’t do anything.”

“Inside the Octagon he will break. He will look for his exit and I will give him his exit.”

“It’s not easy to make weight, but I do and I do it professionally.  I’m a monster in there. In my last fight I made sure to weigh one pound less to show I was ready for Aldo.”

“The body type and the words he uses are very similar to Diego Brandao. I predicted that fight. I can feel some déjà vu.”

ROBBIE LAWLER:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Fan Event – Calgary – March 25

“Rory is from one of the best camps in the world. I need to mix it up. I have to be smart and strategic, but I’m going to do what it took to get me to this point. I’m going to keep working hard, training hard and keep my belt. When the Octagon door closes, I will be ready to fight.”

“It is great to be around fans, take in their energy. I use it in my training to push me, to motivate me.”

“I try to stick mostly to a Paleo diet and eat well. I base my diet on how my body recovers.”

“I’ll fight in the streets. I’ll fight anywhere. I’m a fighter and that’s what I do.”

RORY MacDONALD:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Fan Event – Calgary – March 25

“The fight with Robbie is going to be the biggest fight of my career. I’m more focused than ever and I’m hungrier than ever. I am prepared for the hardest fight of my life and I feel confident and strong minded. I definitely learned a lot from my last fight against him.”

“I don’t have a smartphone anymore because it’s too distracting. It ‘zombifies’ people, so I’ve reverted back to a flip phone for texting and calling so I can still stay in touch with people without the distraction of all the apps and games.”

“I compare myself to a silverback gorilla and a lion, a cross breed with a little bit of a bunny. Gorillas are powerful and have a position as a leader, a lion for its heart and a bunny for its love.”

“I will have a much better mental approach in this fight and will be giving Robbie the respect he deserves. I don’t think I adequately gave him the respect he deserved last time, and I paid the price for it.”

“I like training in hand to hand combat and weapons training. It’s not just knowledge, but the hours spent training involved is critical to master the skills. This is something separate from my training as a fighter, but I think it’s interesting to know.”

WSOF 19

QUOTES FROM THE UFC 189 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR

RIO DE JANEIRO, LAS VEGAS & LOS ANGELES

Las Vegas – Undisputed UFC® featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor are embarking on a world press tour spanning 10 cities in five countries over the course of 12 days to promote their upcoming world title bout at UFC® 189: ALDO vs. McGREGOR on Saturday, July 11 at MGM Grand Garden Arena to highlight International Fight Week. The event also features Robbie Lawler defending his UFC welterweight championship for the first time against No. 2 Rory MacDonald.

JOSE ALDO:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Press Conference – Rio de Janeiro – March 20

“He is not as good as he thinks he is.  His talk is what got him here.  He’s just another one in the way.”

“He doesn’t own Rio.  He doesn’t even own Dublin.  Everyone knows who the king is here.”

“I think this is going to be the biggest fight in UFC history, definitely in this division.”

“I was created in the street.  I am a street fighter.  I will run him over.  I don’t care, there is no friendship.  Not with me.”

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Media Day – Las Vegas – March 23

“I don’t care about all this talking, even parrots can talk. He has to go there and prove he is a better fighter.”

“I am the champ. I’m not going after anyone. If he wants to come to me, he can.”

“No, he didn’t get into my mind.  I think I got into his mind. I think during our stare down he saw something different in my eyes. I saw fear in his eyes. I know he used to be a fan of mine and watch my fights. I did my research on him and know everything about him.”

“I am from the favela and I am proud of it. It is who I am. It doesn’t get to me.  The strongest part of my game is my mind.  I wasn’t upset at all.  I like to laugh at everything he does.”

When asked about McGregor leaving the Octagon in Boston: “I thought it was really funny.  He jumped and didn’t do anything, he just grabbed the security guy and stopped coming toward me.”

“He talks a lot, but I don’t care because I can’t really understand him.”

“I don’t speak English, so that is a problem. I feel that Ronda (Rousey) and Jon (Jones) are big because they can communicate. If you go to Brazil, I am bigger than both of them there.”

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Media Day – Los Angeles – March 24

“We are in L.A. and not even to the middle of the world tour, I can already feel all the buzz about it.  It’s not only the most important featherweight fight, but the most important fight of all time. Bring it on; I’m loving this. I’m here to do my job. I’m the only champion this division will see until I decide to retire.”

“Conor is just talk. Has he ever fought a champion? He doesn’t know how to defend a belt eight times.”

“I respect him as a promoter. He brought light to the division, but he doesn’t amaze me inside the Octagon®.”

“Can you bring me a coffee? Conor, I like it with sugar please!”

CONOR McGREGOR:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Press Conference – Rio de Janeiro – March 20

“I own this town.”

“As far as I am concerned, he is a coaster.  He has not finished anybody.  He only has one legit finish.  When I hit, they fall.  When he hits, they don’t.  He has 25 minutes to hide that chin from me.”

“He hasn’t stopped anybody in five years, how is he going to stop me?”

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Media Day – Las Vegas – March 23

“Fear has a strong stench and he is reeking of it.  I simply see fear.”

“There’s no character. That’s who I am.  I’ll speak the truth and have a little fun also.  Whether there are cameras here or not, I’m still the same.”

“Let him study because I will enter the contest formless and fearless.  His study will be useless.”

“Honestly, it tickles me when the featherweights hit me. It doesn’t hurt me one bit. I don’t feel nothing.  I’m going to march him down and break him down.”

“I never forget where I came from, it keeps me motivated. Other people, when they start getting a taste of the finer things, that’s when comfort sets in. But for me, I almost get more uncomfortable as the good things come. I must push on and continue to get more. I must be constant.”

“Last night we shut down the Vegas Strip. It’s absolutely madness. I like to take it in and be grateful for it and enjoy the ride.”

“When you sign up to fight me, it’s a whole different ballgame.  It just swarms people. They start shrinking in their seat. Their eyes start watering. Their bottom lip starts quivering. They are fighting McGregor now; I feel them crumble every time.”

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Media Day – Los Angeles – March 24

“I have no problem having Aldo on this tour with me. I just pet him on his head and sit him on my lap.”

“I think this fight will be decided by the four minute mark of the first round. Anything beyond that will be a mere formality.”

“The Brazilians won’t even be heard in Las Vegas in July. The crowd will be 70% Irish. Vegas won’t know what hit it.”

“After my first defeat, I had no respect for jiu jitsu or the grappling arts, I was a boxer. I got caught in a leg lock and I realized I was not taking the fight game serious enough. After my second fight I decided I’m either going to put everything into this or I’m not going to do it at all.  It was at that point I decided I was in this to the end.”

“Not only has (Aldo) already broken on this tour, he broke at home, in Rio de Janeiro. He broke nice and early.”

“You had ‘The Time is Now’ which was record breaking. Next was ‘Welcome to the Show’ which broke more records. Now you have the ‘McGregor Era’ and it will break them all.”

TICKETS FOR UFC® 189: ALDO vs. McGREGOR

AT MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA IN LAS VEGAS

ON-SALE FRIDAY, MARCH 27

Las Vegas – In one of the most anticipated matchups in UFC® history, reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo goes head-to-head with Irish superstarConor McGregor in the main event of UFC® 189, Saturday, July 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Plus, newly crowned welterweight champion Robbie Lawler makes his first title defense against No. 2 Rory MacDonald in the co-main event.  The two world title fights will be the signature events of UFC’s International Fight Week™, which kicks off July 7 in Las Vegas, the home of the UFC.

Aldo (25-1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), second in the pound-for-pound rankings, looks to continue his historic reign and remain the only featherweight champion in UFC history. He will attempt an eighth straight successful title defense against polarizing Irish sensation McGregor (17-2, fighting out of Dublin, Ireland), a winner of 13 straight. After several heated exchanges through the press and social media, these adversaries will finally meet in the five-round main event. The talking ends July 11.

Plus, UFC welterweight champion Lawler (25-10, 1NC, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Fla.) will make his first title defense in a rematch against a young and hungry MacDonald (18-2, fighting out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada). Lawler handed MacDonald his only loss in the last five years at UFC 167 in November 2013, and then went on to defeat top-ranked contenders Jake Ellenberger and Matt Brown before taking the 170-pound title from Johny Hendricks by decision. MacDonald has rattled off three straight wins over Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley and Tarec Saffiedine to secure his title shot and rematch with the champ.

Additional bouts will be announced soon.

Julianna Pena – Get it Through Everybody’s Thick Head

She’s back!!! MMA Fight Radio interview with UFC Bantamweight Julianna Pena

UFC FIGHT NIGHT APRIL 04, 2015 / PATRIOT CENTER, FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES JULIANNA PENA 5 – 2 – 0 vs MILANA DUDIEVA 11 – 3 – 0

Julianna always knows how to bring it in an interview as well as in the cage. Listen to the entire interview. Starts approx half way through the audio you can skip ahead if need.

This is just a small portion of the interview….

“I was asked two times in interviews about my views, on what she thought, about the comments she made, against Arianny and I was also asked how I would be able to approach her when me and her fight one day. And so I am answering as honestly as I can. When they ask me: when you make it to a title shot how do you see yourself fighting her and I answer honestly. And I think that the thing that people are getting confused is not only are they not listening to the interviews, they are just reading headlines. But they are also not taking into consideration that every fighter should believe in themselves and every fighter should not set limitations on themselves as a warrior. They should be able to be confident and believe in their skill set and know they can go get locked in that cage and go toe to toe with anybody who stands in front of them and I am confident in myself and I am confident as a fighter, that like Ronda says, ‘No one has a right to beat me.’ I have a lot of work to do and it starts on April 4 when I fight Dudieva and on top of that I have to climb up the ranks and get in that top five to get a title shot. So Ronda is not my focus. Ronda is nowhere near where I see myself for my next fight. But as far as who holds the belt Ronda holds the belt and do I want a title shot one day absolutely and am I going to work my ass off until I get there. Absolutely, and am I going to give hell or die trying every girl that I face, yeah. I am not going to make it easy on any girl that I face and I just  want them all to know that. I am a force to be reckoned with and if I have to say that a million times to get it through everybody’s thick head than that is what I have got to do. I believe in myself as a fighter and I am not afraid of anyone. The only person or thing that I fear is God and that’s it.”
