TICKETS FOR UFC® 189: ALDO vs. McGREGOR

ON-SALE FRIDAY, MARCH 27

Las Vegas – In one of the most anticipated matchups in UFC® history, reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo goes head-to-head with Irish superstarConor McGregor in the main event of UFC® 189, Saturday, July 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Plus, newly crowned welterweight champion Robbie Lawler makes his first title defense against No. 2 Rory MacDonald in the co-main event.  The two world title fights will be the signature events of UFC’s International Fight Week™, which kicks off July 7 in Las Vegas, the home of the UFC.

Aldo (25-1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), second in the pound-for-pound rankings, looks to continue his historic reign and remain the only featherweight champion in UFC history. He will attempt an eighth straight successful title defense against polarizing Irish sensation McGregor (17-2, fighting out of Dublin, Ireland), a winner of 13 straight. After several heated exchanges through the press and social media, these adversaries will finally meet in the five-round main event. The talking ends July 11.

Plus, UFC welterweight champion Lawler (25-10, 1NC, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Fla.) will make his first title defense in a rematch against a young and hungry MacDonald (18-2, fighting out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada). Lawler handed MacDonald his only loss in the last five years at UFC 167 in November 2013, and then went on to defeat top-ranked contenders Jake Ellenberger and Matt Brown before taking the 170-pound title from Johny Hendricks by decision. MacDonald has rattled off three straight wins over Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley and Tarec Saffiedine to secure his title shot and rematch with the champ.

Julianna Pena – Get it Through Everybody’s Thick Head

She’s back!!! MMA Fight Radio interview with UFC Bantamweight Julianna Pena

UFC FIGHT NIGHT APRIL 04, 2015 / PATRIOT CENTER, FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES JULIANNA PENA 5 – 2 – 0 vs MILANA DUDIEVA 11 – 3 – 0

Julianna always knows how to bring it in an interview as well as in the cage. Listen to the entire interview. Starts approx half way through the audio you can skip ahead if need.

This is just a small portion of the interview….

“I was asked two times in interviews about my views, on what she thought, about the comments she made, against Arianny and I was also asked how I would be able to approach her when me and her fight one day. And so I am answering as honestly as I can. When they ask me: when you make it to a title shot how do you see yourself fighting her and I answer honestly. And I think that the thing that people are getting confused is not only are they not listening to the interviews, they are just reading headlines. But they are also not taking into consideration that every fighter should believe in themselves and every fighter should not set limitations on themselves as a warrior. They should be able to be confident and believe in their skill set and know they can go get locked in that cage and go toe to toe with anybody who stands in front of them and I am confident in myself and I am confident as a fighter, that like Ronda says, ‘No one has a right to beat me.’ I have a lot of work to do and it starts on April 4 when I fight Dudieva and on top of that I have to climb up the ranks and get in that top five to get a title shot. So Ronda is not my focus. Ronda is nowhere near where I see myself for my next fight. But as far as who holds the belt Ronda holds the belt and do I want a title shot one day absolutely and am I going to work my ass off until I get there. Absolutely, and am I going to give hell or die trying every girl that I face, yeah. I am not going to make it easy on any girl that I face and I just  want them all to know that. I am a force to be reckoned with and if I have to say that a million times to get it through everybody’s thick head than that is what I have got to do. I believe in myself as a fighter and I am not afraid of anyone. The only person or thing that I fear is God and that’s it.”

WSOF 20: BRANCH VS. MARKES

RISING STAR AND IRAQ WAR VET EMMANUEL WALO FACES UNDEFEATED “PHOENIX JONES” AT WSOF 20: BRANCH VS. MARKES

STAR-STUDDED MMA EVENT

AT FOXWOODS RESORT CASINO IN CONNECTICUT ON FRIDAY, APRIL 10

LIVE NBCSN TELEVISED CARD COMPLETE WITH FOUR BOUTS

LAS VEGAS (March 19, 2015) – A war hero versus a real-life superhero – both fast-rising stars in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).  Who do you root for?

That is the question that fans will be faced with when Emmanuel Walo (7-2-1) squares off with undefeated Ben Fodor (5-0-1), also known as costumed crime fighter “Phoenix Jones,” in a welterweight (170 pounds) contest at the much-anticipated WSOF 20: Branch vs. Markes event at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. on Friday, April 10, live on NBCSN.

“This is a matchup between two of the most prolific prospects in our great sport, and a fabulous addition to our first-ever event in Conn. that is already stacked with a tremendous lineup of talent,” said WSOF President, six-time world champion and two-time Hall of Famer Ray Sefo.

Another new addition to the WSOF 20 fight card will see Steve Mocco (4-1) of Coconut Creek, Fla. battle Juliano Coutinho (6-1) of West Yarmouth, Mass. in a heavyweight tilt.

In the midst of his fourth year as a professional fighter, the 28-year-old Walo of Jersey City, N.J. is also a member of the National Guard who saw action in Iraq during the war there.  It was while he was stationed in Iraq that Walo was introduced to MMA through a fellow U.S. military operative and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt who offered to teach Walo

After returning home from combat, Walo followed what had become his passion, reeling off a 2-0 record in amateur MMA competition in 2011, before making the jump to the professional ranks.

Walo received a rude awakening in his professional debut on Dec. 10, 2011, losing a unanimous decision to Michael Wilcox, but rebounded and went unbeaten in his next eight starts.

The 26-year-old Fodor of Seattle, Wash. signed a multi-fight contract last week with WSOF after being covered in a compelling feature segment on ESPN SportsCenterthat profiled his strenuous lifestyle as both a prize fighter and a costumed crime fighter dedicated to curbing street crimes and assisting people in distress in Seattle’s streets.

Fodor is coming off a third round (3:06) technical submission (rear-naked choke) victory over Jason Novelli on Feb. 21, 2015.

Tickets for the WSOF 20: Branch vs. Markes, priced from $39.99, are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.

In the main event, reigning WSOF World Middleweight (185 pounds) Champion David Branch (15-3) will move up to light heavyweight (205 pounds) and face off with fellow Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Ronny Markes (15-3) in what represents the second bout of the multi-event WSOF tournament that will crown its winner the promotion’s inaugural world light heavyweight champion.

In the lightweight (155 pounds) co-main event, Melvin “The Young” Assassin Guillard (32-14-2, 2 NC) of New Orleans, La. will collide with fellow hard-hitting, KO artist Ozzy Dugulubgov (6-2) of Hackensack, N.J.

Leading off the live NBCSN telecast that will begin at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT, is another lightweight matchup between Nick Newell (11-1) of Springfield, Mass. and Joe Condon (12-7) of Victorville, Calif.

Doors at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino open at 5:00 p.m. ET, and the first preliminary bout begins at 6:00 p.m.

The preliminary bout lineup for WSOF 20: Branch vs. Markes will be announced soon.

Prior to the April 10 event, live WSOF MMA action returns to NBCSN on Saturday, March 28, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT, with WSOF 19: Gaethje vs. Palomino, headlined by a world lightweight championship showdown between undefeated reigning kingpin Justin Gaethje (13-0) of Safford, Ariz. and hard-hitting contender Luis “Baboon” Palomino (23-9) of Miami, Fla.

UFC® APPLAUDS ANTI-PIRACY CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

City of London Police Execute Warrant Against Suspect

image001Las Vegas – UFC® today announced it is cooperating with law enforcement officials from the City of London Police and its Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) regarding an investigation into the illegal distribution of UFC programming.

On March 18, the PIPCU executed a warrant to search and seize computers and property suspected of being used for criminal activity. A 55-year-old suspect, believed to be one of the internet’s biggest illegal uploaders of mixed martial arts and wrestling content, was arrested and remanded into police custody following the execution of the search warrant for his alleged involvement into the illegal distribution of protected content. Authorities estimate the suspect’s operation may have shared files that led to more than 2 million downloads. The suspect has been taken in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

In the course of the search of the suspect’s residence in Coalville, Leicestershire, PIPCU uncovered computers, electronic equipment, and other evidence to assist in determining the extent of the unlawful activity and the potential damages incurred as a result of these crimes.

UFC has assisted local law enforcement authorities around the world in identifying potential infringers of intellectual property laws relating to the illegal distribution of copyrighted broadcasts. The UFC is committed to providing any assistance to PIPCU’s investigation into the illegal distribution of the company’s content and will make records and documents available to investigators.

“The UFC organization hopes this investigation and arrest by PIPCU will result in a significant decrease in the illegal online distribution of our intellectual property and broadcasts,” UFC Chief Legal Officer Kirk Hendrick said. “We take online piracy very seriously and will continue to work with law enforcement officials around the world to prevent illegal sharing of UFC content.”

Real-life superhero makes his WSOF debut

WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING SIGNS
COSTUMED CRIME FIGHTER AND
UNDEFEATED MMA STAR PHOENIX JONES

Real-life superhero makes his WSOF debut on April 10 at
Foxwoods Resort Casino in Conn., live on NBCSN

LAS VEGAS (March 12, 2015) –World Series of Fighting (WSOF.com) has signed costumed crime fighter and undefeated Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) star Phoenix Jones aka Ben “Flattop” Fodor, who was the subject of a recent, in-depth feature story onESPN SportsCenter, to a multi-fight contract.

The 26-year-old Fodor (5-0-1), who has gained widespread attention for his exploits as a superhero-like protector of the Seattle, Wash. streets where he resides, will make his debut for the world championship MMA promotion against an opponent to be determined at WSOF 20: Branch vs. Markes at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. on Friday, April 10, live on NBCSN.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ben Fodor, who has not only been making waves as an unbeaten professional in our great sport, but who has also shown himself to be an incredibly courageous and selfless human being by risking his safety in the streets of Seattle to help and inspire others,” said WSOF President, six-time world champion and two-time Hall of Famer Ray Sefo.

Fodor, the brother of fellow MMA standout Caros Fodor, made national headlines as Phoenix Jones for the first time in 2011 after thwarting a number of street crimes, including burglary and assault, while clad from head to toe in a black and gold body suit.

That year, Fodor also launched the now-defunct Rain City Superhero Movement, a self-described crime fighting brigade consisting of over a dozen costumed activists dedicated to curbing crime in Seattle.

In the cage, Fodor, a protégé of retired MMA star and famed trainer Matt Hume, has become a ferocious force to be reckoned with, going unbeaten in his first 6 professional starts after amassing a stellar 15-2 amateur career record.

In his last effort on Feb. 21, Fodor submitted Jason Novelli with a rear-naked choke in the third round (3:06) of their matchup in Tacoma, Wash.

Priced from $39.99, tickets for WSOF 20: Branch vs. Markes at Foxwoods Resort Casino are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.  The event will be headlined by the second matchup – David Branch (15-3) vs. Ronny Markes (15-3) – in the multi-event tournament that will crown its winner the inaugural WSOF world light heavyweight (205 pounds) champion.

The live NBCSN telecast of WSOF 20 begins at 9:00 p.m. EST/6:00 p.m. PST on Friday, April 10.
